Getting Here – By Bus

Turkey has an excellent network of reliable bus companies offering regular services between all major destinations, including to/from:

• Istanbul – 11-12 hours
• Pamukkale (Denizli) – 11 hours
• Fethiye – 12 hours
• Antalya –9-10 hours
• Ankara–5 hours
• Izmir –12 hours
• Konya –3 hours

The buses often have WiFi, entertainment centres with USB,  and stop every 2-3 hours at bus depots where you can use bathroom facilities and buy prepared food and snacks. Although the overnight buses do not have sleeper beds or toilets on board, they are reasonably comfortable (similar to economy airline seats) and onboard hosts will offer water, tea, coffee and light snacks throughout the journey.

When booking a bus to come to Cappadocia, be sure to book with a company that will drop you off at the Göreme bus station. Recommended bus companies include Kamil Koç, Metro, Suha, and Nevşehir.

Other companies may only drop you at the nearby towns of Nevşehir, Kayseri or Avanos. Some of these will then provide a shuttle transfer service into Göreme while others do not and you will need to make your own way to Göreme.  This can be difficult for overnight/early morning arrivals.  Be sure to specify that you want to go to Goreme.

It is an easy and short 4-5 minute walk to the hotel from the bus station – check out this Google Map for directions.  We may be able to pick you up free of charge from the Göreme bus station if we have a car available. Just ask the bus company or the Information Centre to call us on +90 384 212 4848 when you arrive and we’ll be there within 5-10 minutes.

We can help you organize your onward bus ticket or you can just walk to the local bus station yourself.  During the high season and during the Turkish holidays, it is best to book your bus ticket 2-3 days in advance, especially for popular areas like Pamukkale, Fethiye, Antalya and Istanbul.  Last minute bookings can be difficult to find during these periods.
